The Chairman advised all parties that immediately prior to the commencement of the meeting the applicant’s agent had advised their wish to withdraw the Temporary Event Notice for an event to be held on 5th September 2020 at Signature Van Hire, 273-275 London Road, Staines-upon-Thames.

 

The Chairman asked all parties if they were in agreement that a hearing was no longer necessary. All parties confirmed they had no objection to the withdrawal.  Mr Elton, Counsel for Surrey Police wished to note their position remained, that these events would be better dealt with by an application for a premises licence rather than Temporary Event Notices (TENS).

 

Resolved that due to the withdrawal of the TENS by the applicant, the hearing is dispensed with.

The Chairman introduced members and officers present and welcomed everyone to the meeting.

 

The Chairman asked all parties present to introduce themselves.  He then explained the procedure to be followed at the hearing.

 

The Council’s Temporary Principal Licensing Officer summarised the two Temporary Event Notice (TENs) applications and the objections received as set out in full in the report of the Deputy Chief Executive.

 

Having heard the evidence presented, the Sub-Committee retired to consider

and determine the applications, having regard to the four licensing objectives.

 

Upon reconvening, the Chairman gave the Sub-Committee’s summary

decision.

 

The full decision with reasons was notified to the applicant and other parties

within one working day.

 

Resolved to reject the TENs applications submitted by Black Steel Ltd and to serve a counter notice in respect of the two TENs applications.
