Appointment of Honorary Alderman The Council is asked to consider and pass the following resolution:
Honorary Alderman
Proposed by Councillor John Boughtflower. Seconded by Councillor Maureen Attewell
“We, the Mayor and Councillors of Spelthorne Borough Council, in pursuance of Section 249 of the Local Government Act 1972, do confer the title of Honorary Alderman of the Borough of Spelthorne upon Robin Sider BEM, in recognition of the eminent service rendered by him to the Council.
As a Ward Councillor for Shepperton Town and a leading Borough Councillor for 24 years until May 2023, he gave so much to the local community through the regard he had for the residents of Shepperton as well as the residents of the Borough as a whole. As Deputy Mayor of the Council for 2001 to 2002 and 2011 to 2012 he supported the Mayors in their roles and then when made Mayor for 2002 to 2003 and 2012 to 2013 he supported many local charities and gave up a considerable amount of personal time to assist outside organisations.
We accordingly propose that Robin Sider BEM be made an Honorary Alderman of the Borough of Spelthorne.”
