To undertake a review of seats and positions on committees following a change within the political parties on 14 March 2024.

 

a)    Allocation of seats on committees and sub-Committees

 

Pursuant to Section 15 of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989, to agree the representation of the different political groups on committees

 

b)    Chairs and Vice-Chairs of Committees

 

To review the Chairs and Vice-Chairs of committees in accordance with the Council’s Constitution

Council considered a report that sought approval of the change in the allocation of committee seats and Chairs and Vice-Chairs positions following a change in the political make-up of members.

 

A named vote was requested by Councillor Bateson, the vote was a follows:

 

For

Councillors Saliagopoulos, Attewell, Bhadye, Boughtflower, Brennan, Chandler, Clarke, Howkins, Islam, Lee, Mathur, Rybinski - 12

Against

Abstain

Councillors Bateson, Beecher, Bing Dong, Buck, Burrell, Caplin, Gibson, Grant, Gyawali, Nichols, Rutherford, Williams - 12

 

 

Council resolved to approve:

 

1.    The revised allocation of seats on Committees and Sub-Committees pursuant to Section 15 of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989, to agree the representation of the different political groups on committees,

 

2.    The revised number of Chairs and Vice-Chairs of Committees for each political party in accordance with the Council’s Constitution and

 

3.    To note that the Independent Spelthorne Group relinquish the Vice Chair seat on Neighbourhood Services and Enforcement and that Councillor M Lee takes up this position.
